What is Salesforce Foundations?
Salesforce recently introduced a no-cost add-on for eligible Salesforce editions (Enterprise, Unlimited, and Einstein 1 Sales or Service) named Salesforce Foundations (not to be confused with Salesforce Foundation, their philanthropic arm of Salesforce, responsible for grants, donations, and running the 1-1-1 model). It is designed to help organisations get more from their existing Salesforce org without the need to purchase additional products.At its core, Foundations brings together a selection of Salesforce’s most valuable features across Sales, Service, Marketing, Commerce, Data Cloud, and AI-powered Agentforce. All of this is embedded directly into your existing CRM, providing a powerful way to explore new functionality at no extra cost.
One of the biggest highlights of the package is access to Salesforce’s AI offering, including Agentforce and Prompt Builder. This allows organisations to experiment with the next generation of automation and AI-driven experiences.
What’s included?
With Salesforce Foundations, you can make use of the following features:
- Agentforce: 100,000 free credits, Configurable sales and service agents, Agent and Prompt Builders. Once the initial credits are used, additional credits can be purchased. See pricing details here. More information on how credits are charged can be found here.
- Sales Cloud: Sales console, deal management, quoting and meeting functionality.
- Service Cloud: Service console, case management, help centre, knowledge and macros.
- Data Cloud: 10,000 annual segmentation credits, unified profiles, data services and storage credits.
- Marketing Cloud: 2,000 monthly email sends, drag-and-drop email builder and built-in analytics.
- Commerce Cloud: Managed checkout, merchandising tools, Commerce Cloud analytics and Pay Now secure payment links.
- Salesforce Platform: Salesforce Platform login licences, 600 annual logins with 30,000 credits (for infrequent users, e.g. accountants, external auditors, etc). Agentforce is extended to these infrequent users.
Based on the products you already use, you can enable one or more of these features.
Salesforce AI Offering – Agentforce and Prompt Builder
Agentforce is one of the most significant innovations included in Salesforce Foundations. It provides the simplest way for Enterprise Edition customers and above to try autonomous agents within their own Salesforce instance.
Prompt Builder is a tool inside Salesforce that lets you tell AI exactly what you want it to do, using plain language. Working together with Agentforce, they streamline AI-driven workflows.
Prompt Builder allows you to create short instructions (prompts) or examples in natural language that guide the AI to respond in the way your organisation needs. For example, you could design a prompt to summarise a grantee’s past grant requests, analyse documents (within the capabilities of its language model) or draft personalised emails. Prompt Builder leverages the strengths of a large language model (LLM), allowing you to easily experiment, adjust and fine-tune prompts to ensure the AI consistently produces accurate and consistent results.
To help you get started, Salesforce Foundations includes 100,000 Flex Credits at no cost. Because Agentforce operates on a consumption-based model, additional usage requires paid credits. However, the initial free allowance is more than enough to explore what agent-driven automation can achieve.
